Express Employment of Long Beach is hiring a material handler for a growing local company. This is a great position for an individual who wants to learn new skills and to grow with the company - full time placement is possible. Job Description

This position is responsible for supporting production. Core duties will include moving raw material from storage to the point of production as well as staging inventory within the warehouse. 

POSITION – Material Handler
LOCATION:  Long Beach
RATE: $17.75/Hr.

Schedule:  Mon-Fri 8pm-4:30am 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Drive forklift or utilize manual lifts to push, pull, lift, stack, tier or move products and materials
• Receiving and shipping of cargo from trucks and containers
• Palletize material by item number or PO number as required
• Stage cargo and compare them with order forms/specifications sheet
• Ensure that all raw material, work in process, quarantine and mixes are properly packaged, identified, always stored and handled.
• Perform regular daily and weekly maintenance as assigned, (i.e. filter, hoses, dryers, blenders etc.)
• Create or assist with inventory counts as needed
• Attention to detail - pack, store, and label correctly to avoid premature wear and tear

Desired Skills, Experience, and Qualities:

• Experience with a sit down forklift 
• Previous experience stacking cargo, palletizing, and general warehouse practices/housekeeping
• Ability to shift priorities quickly and meet tight deadlines
• Ability to perform basic math, count accurately, read English, and write legibly
• Bilingual (English & Spanish) a plus
• Ability to frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds with proper technique
• Communication skills, ability to work on a team, and follow directions with an emphasis on safety
