CNC Machinist

Located in Lakeville, MN

Salary: 25+/hr DOE

JOB DESCRIPTION:

A CNC Machinist is an advanced-level role that is responsible for the daily setup and operation of a variety of machinery that support the production needs of the organization. This position reports to the Production Supervisor and will interact on a regular basis with other machinist and management, and works cooperatively with other organization staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Set up and operate CNC machines to perform one or more machine functions and set up future jobs while machines are operating
* Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates and fixtures
* Mount, install, align and secure tools, attachments, fixtures and work pieces
* Listen to machines during operation in order to detect sounds such as those made by dull-cutting tools or excessive vibration, and adjust machines to compensate for problems
* Modify cutting programs to account for problems encountered during operation, save modified programs and submit for Manufacturing Engineer
* Calculate machine speed and feed ratios, as well as the size of position cuts, control coolant needs
* Check to ensure that work pieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operation
* Confer with supervisors or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions and production errors and to obtain approval to continue production
* Provide back up support to Machinist I & II staff for planned and unplanned absences
* Attendance is an essential function of this position
* Performing all other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
* Experience as CNC Machinist/Tool Die
* Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
* Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM
* Mechanical aptitude and good math skills
* A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach
* Good communication abilities
* Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. when needed
