Structural AutoCAD Drafter

Job Summary:

The Structural AutoCAD Drafter is responsible for creating detailed drawings and plans for building structures and industrial projects based on specifications provided by structural engineers and architects. This role involves using AutoCAD and other drafting software to develop structural designs, ensuring that they comply with industry standards and project requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Drafting and Detailing:

  - Prepare and create detailed structural drawings for industrial structures using AutoCAD.

  - Develop plans, sections, elevations, and details for structural components such as beams, columns, foundations, and walls.

  - Update existing drawings based on changes or modifications requested by engineers and architects.

- Collaboration:

  - Work closely with project managers to understand project specifications and requirements.

  - Ensure that structural drawings align with architectural, mechanical, and electrical designs.

  - Coordinate with other departments to ensure consistency in the overall project design.

- Standards and Compliance:

  - Ensure all drawings adhere to industry standards, codes, and regulations.

  - Apply knowledge of building codes, standards, and engineering principles to the design and drafting of structures.

- Quality Control:

  - Review and check drawings for accuracy, ensuring they meet technical requirements and company standards.

  - Correct any discrepancies or issues identified in the design or drafting process.

- Project Documentation:

  - Maintain proper documentation of all drawings and revisions.

  - Ensure that all drawings are organized and archived according to project timelines and company protocols.

- Software Use:

  - Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, and other software tools to create and modify 2D and 3D structural models.

  - Stay updated on the latest AutoCAD features and relevant software to improve efficiency in drafting tasks.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (knowledge of other drafting software like MicroStation, Civil 3D is a plus).

- Strong understanding of **structural engineering principles** and building materials such as steel, concrete, and wood.

- Ability to read and interpret **architectural and structural drawings**.

- Knowledge of **building codes**, standards, and regulations related to structural design.

- **Attention to detail** and strong **organizational skills**.

- Good **communication** and **teamwork** skills.

- Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Diploma or degree in civil engineering technology, structural engineering, or a related field.

- 1+ years** of experience in structural drafting and design.

- Familiarity with **construction practices** and methods.
